Chloro Alkali or Basic Chemical

Caustic soda is used in the manufacture of plastic wrap, soap and paper and is the major ingredient in most oven cleaners and liquid drain cleaners. In chemical manufacturing, it is used in chemical processing, oil refining and water treatment. Commercially, Caustic is generally used as either a solid, a 50-percent aqueous solution. Caustic soda should be used with caution, as it is an alkaline corrosive that can be hazardous. When it reacts with moisture in the air, it dissolves, generating heat. This heat may cause nearby flammable materials to ignite, resulting in a fire. It should be safely stored in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place, away from oxidizing or organic materials. It should not be allowed to come into contact with metal powders or acids.

The Challenge

Worldwide, the major users of caustic soda are the aluminum industry, pulp & paper and the chemical industry. The main challenge of applications are water treatment and water purification, as cleaning agent, or a wide range of uses in chemical industry like starch production or for the de-sulphurization in the petrochemical industry.Three production methods are in use. While the mercury cell method produces chlorine-free sodium hydroxide, the use of several tonnes of mercury leads to serious environmental problems. In a normal production cycle a few hundred pounds of mercury per year are emitted, which accumulate in the environment.

The Solution

Modern cell technology is a relatively recent innovation of Caustic. This technology differs from diaphragm cell technology in that the solutions surrounding each electrode are separated by a membrane rather than a diaphragm. The membrane is very selective and primarily allows the migration of sodium ions from the anode chamber to the cathode chamber. Saturated brine enters the anode compartment of the cell where chlorine gas is liberated. Since only sodium ions can pass through the membrane to the cathode, the cell effluent contains substantially less sodium chloride. There is no salt removal capabilities are required as in the diaphragm cell process

Complete Corporate Identity

Additionally, the chlorine and sodium hydroxide produced via the mercury-cell chloralkali process are themselves contaminated with trace amounts of mercury. The membrane and diaphragm method use no mercury, but the sodium hydroxide contains chlorine, which must be removed.

We Rethought Everything

Pulp and paper is among the largest application for caustic soda worldwide, where it is used as a raw material in the pulping and bleaching process, in de-inking of waste paper, and in water treatment. In textile industry, caustic soda is used to process cotton and in the dyeing process of synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester.

Uses of Caustic Soda

Oil and Gas industry uses caustic soda in the exploration, production and processing of petroleum and natural gas, where it removes objectionable smells originating from hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and mercaptans.

By product chlorine is widely used in making many everyday products and essential for a healthy human life. It is vital for water disinfection for producing safe drinking water all over the world. Chlorine is an important chemical for water purification in water treatment plants. Eighty-five percent of medicines either contain chlorine or use chlorine in the production process.Chlorine is also extensively used in the production of paper products, textiles, petroleum products, antiseptics, insecticides, food, solvents, paints, plastics, and many other consumer products.

Sodium hypochlorite is also commonly used in the pre-treatment of cooling water to prevent bio-fouling in a cooling water system which involves piping, heat exchangers, cooling towers, etc. Hydrochloric acid is a co-product in the process of cracking. Some of hydrochloric acid is used in Oxy-Chlorination process to produce Ethylene dichloride while the rest is delivered to customers in the form of 33% solution.

Ball Clay is a variety of Kaolinite, like china-clay. It differs from china-clay in having high plasticity and less refractoriness. In chemical composition, ball and china clays do not differ greatly except that the former contains a larger proportion of silica. It has derived its name from the practice of removing it in the form of ball-like lumps from the clay pits in the UK. Localized seams in the same deposit have variations in composition, including the quantity of the major minerals and accessory minerals. They are fine-grained and plastic in nature, and, unlike most earthenware clays, produce a fine quality white-coloured pottery body when fired, which is the key to their popularity with potters. Ball clays are relatively scarce deposits due to the combination of geological factors needed for their formation and preservation.

royal terracotta tiles

A royal tile is a manufactured piece of hard-wearing material such as ceramic, stone, metal, or even glass, generally used for covering roofs, floors, walls, showers, …Appropriate refined clay is formed to the desired shape. It is placed in a kiln, and then fired. The typical firing temperature is around 1,000 °C, though it may be as low as 600 °C. The iron content, reacting with oxygen during firing, gives the fired body a reddish color or brown. White-colored terracotta is known as pipe clay, as such clays were later preferred for tobacco pipes.

Pyrolysis

Pyrolysis is the precursor to gasification

Pyrolysis differs from other processes like combustion and hydrolysis in that it usually does not involve reactions with oxygen, water, or any other reagents. In practice, it is not possible to achieve a completely oxygen-free atmosphere. Because some oxygen is present in any it’s system, a small amount of oxidation occurs. It occurs whenever food is exposed to high enough temperatures in a dry environment, such as roasting, baking, toasting, or grilling. It is the chemical process responsible for the formation of the golden-brown crust in foods prepared by those methods.

Pyrolysis offers the possibility of de-coupling (time, place and scale), easy handling of the liquids and a more consistent quality compared to any solid biomass. With fast its a clean liquid is produced as an intermediate suitable for a wide variety of applications.

pyrolysis

Fast pyrolysis is a process in which organic materials are rapidly heated to 450 – 600 °C in the absence of air. Under these conditions, organic vapors, it gases and charcoal are produced. The vapors are condensed to bio-oil. Typically, 60-75 wt.% of the feedstock is converted into oil.

Micro credit

Micro Credit

Here is a basic page layout with no sidebar

Micro credit is the extension of very small loans to impoverished borrowers who typically lack collateral, steady employment and a verifiable credit history.

Local finance for poor people

Micro credit is part of micro finance, which provides a wider range of financial services, especially savings accounts, to the poor. Modern micro credit is generally considered to have originated with the Grameen Bank founded in Bangladesh in 1983. Many traditional banks subsequently introduced micro credit despite initial misgivings. The United Nations declared the International Year of Micro credit. As of 2012, micro credit is widely used in developing countries and is presented as having “enormous potential as a tool for poverty alleviation.

The origins of microcredit in its current practical incarnation can be linked to several organizations founded in Bangladesh, especially the Grameen Bank. The Grameen Bank, which is generally considered the first modern microcredit institution, was founded in 1983 by Muhammad Yunus. Yunus began the project in a small town called Jobra, using his own money to deliver small loans at low-interest rates to the rural poor. Grameen Bank was followed by organizations such as BRAC in 1972 and ASA in 1978. Microcredit reached Latin America with the establishment of PRODEM in Bolivia in 1986; a bank that later transformed into the for-profit BancoSol. Microcredit quickly became a popular tool for economic development, with hundreds of institutions emerging throughout the third world. Though the Grameen Bank was formed initially as a non-profit organization dependent upon government subsidies, it later became a corporate entity and was renamed Grameen II in 2002. Muhammad Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his work providing microcredit services to the poor.

Grameen Bank

Though lending to groups has long been a key part of microcredit, microcredit initially began with the principle of lending to individuals. Despite the use of solidarity circles in 1970s Jobra, and other early microcredit institutions initially focused on individual lending. A solidarity circle is a group of borrowers that provide mutual encouragement, information, and assistance in times of need, though loans remain the responsibility of individuals.

Repayment

Indeed, Muhammad Yunus propagated the notion that every person has the potential to become an entrepreneur. The use of group-lending was motivated by Economics of scale, as the costs associated with monitoring loans and enforcing repayment are significantly lower when credit is distributed to groups rather than individuals.

Many times the loan to one participant in group-lending depends upon the successful repayment from another member, thus transferring repayment responsibility off of micro credit institutions to loan recipients.
